My Testicular Cancer Blog
This page is dedicated to my post about my journey with testicular cancer
Good morning! It's officially seven weeks after my one round of chemotherapy. This is an updated picture of my hair. Don't let the picture fool you, even though you may see more darkness, these hairs are super thin and light. This means that whenever I go into direct sunlight or a well lit area that my head looks bald still. However, something interesting is happening... I'm growing a mustache! I may have tried to grow a goatee in the past, but this mustache is actually thick, like really thick. I want to try and grow my hair out for a few more months, but if it doesn't get thicker, I may just stay with the bald look. Not my first choice, but hey, I'd rather be bald and healthy than not healthy. Also, emotionally, I am still going through some ups and downs, but I think mainly it's the hair thing. I may lose some of you in these references, but I feel like losing hair in entertainment culture has been a big cue in character change. Such as when in Breaking Bad, Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher gets cancer and loses his hair, then picks up the persona of Heisenberg, a drug lord. Or even in one of my favorite cartoons, Futurama, where Fry sees his crush with another man, but it turns out to be himself from an alternate timeline when he lives alone and matures, but gets attacked and loses all his hair, but becomes, in my opinion, a better person, Lars. It may sound strange, but when I look in the mirror I don't recognize myself physically anymore. Don't get me wrong, I still feel the same, but I don't look myself anymore and I think that's what I'm getting used to. Sorry if I sound extremely vain right now, but I'm just documenting these feelings, so if someone else is going through something similar, they know. Anyways... the last three images were taken from google images and with that, have a great day and message me if you have any questions or comments!
